Chapter House Gets New Flooring Thanks to Capital Campaign Donations
Article by Brother Dave Parker ΔΔ1206, Chairman of Our Capital Campaign Building Committee

After a couple of false starts, one earlier missed deadline, and some
last-minute quality-control efforts by the contractor...I am thrilled
to report that the second major capital improvement project funded by
the Capital Campaign was successfully completed during the recent
holiday break. Complete Floor Covering was the flooring contractor,
and Charles Ulsh of Ulsh Home Improvements completed the associated
trim work and painting.

This project was the result of a strong team effort, with special
thanks to the Property Association Board and the following
individuals: Bob Nelson for his leadership in guiding the Property
Association Board discussions during the design and bidding process
and Ed Sidwell for his daily construction observation on-site during
the installation. Please see the additional photos by clicking on the
"photo albums" link near the top of the page on the left, and then select
the "Building a New Legacy Capital Campaign Flooring Project" photo album.

Brothers returning for the Spring Semester were instructed on the care
and maintenance of the floor as part of the 'Clean Start' seminar held
on January 17. Keeping the floors in top shape will obviously be an
ongoing effort, and the Chapter is committed to do so. Special thanks
again to Ed Sidwell and Kelly and Brandon Peterson for helping to
reinforce this message.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates as the Property Association
begins discussions on the next round of capital improvements...and
keep those donations coming!

To make your donation, please contact Brother Doug Kosydar at DD1249@gmail.com
as it is never too late to invest in your home in State College.

Competing interests cloud alcohol debate - from "Voices" Feb. 201
Susan Erem and staff from the "Voices" Publication has done an extensive and impressive presentation of the alcohol problem in their February 2010 Issue.  The attached "term paper" appears to be very thorough and well organized.  The challenge for all groups working on the alcohol problem will be to proceed along paths that will stand the best chance of being successful.

Clean Seminar held by Brandon and Kelly Peterson
A ‘Clean Seminar’ was held at the house with the Active Brothers in attendance led by Alumni Brandon Peterson, and his wife Kelly Peterson, with assistance by Alumni Ed Sidwell.  The goal of the meeting was to review cleaning of the new wood flooring, review cleanliness expectations, take inventory of the on-hand cleaning supplies in the house to address possible needs, and discuss documenting cleaning instructions that could be useful to consistently clean the exterior and interior of the house.
We look forward to getting all on board with taking pride in house cleanliness to the next level so that we can all be proud of the house and its many improvements.

Brandon can be reached at bizzeb1306@gmail.com .

Active Chapter THON Update
THON season is here and the active chapter has been actively participating.

The chapter has been paired with Club Cheerleading this year and we are very excited about our new partnership.

We have already gone on two canning weekends and will be going on two more, one in January and one in February. We have also sent out letters to all of our alumni, and we have had a very good response so far.

We look forward to raising a lot of money for the Four Diamonds Fund. Our goal is to raise more than we did last year. Last year our chapter raised a whopping $13,000 for the Four Diamonds Fund. Any donations from alumni would be greatly appreciated. Please donate online at thon.org and select Sigma Nu from the drop down menu.

Dan Begam, our THON Chairman, can be reached via email at daniel.begam@gmail.com .

Great job by the Active Chapter on THON!
